The Real Economic Society is an activist educational non-profit society based in Dunnville, Ontario, Canada. We are defining and structuring a revision in economic thinking called Economic Realism.
In Economic Realism, we position mankind as the logical evolutionary caretaker of the planet and its solar system, and seek to instill that fundamental value in every member of the human race.
We view the current regime of Neo-Classical Economics as the last chapter in a defective understanding of home sapiens’ best value and behaviour as an interstitial and temporary apex predator with the added endowment of consciousness.
Human Economic Activity occurs in the context of the planetary ecology, and we are obliged, as the only fully conscious intelligent species, to deploy these endowments to attain symbiosis with our celestial home.
The concept of Economic Realism is an extension of the school of thought called Ecological Economics, whereby we recognize the primacy of ecology in defining the full scope of home sapiens’ potential as an intermediary species, who must one day reconcile itself to its temporary existence.
Economic Realism builds on Ecological Economics by incorporating aspects of Evolutionary Psychology as a key pillar of correct ecological protection through proportional population representation within the ecology. Currently, our disproportionate population is the foundational perturbation of the normal ecological evolution that would see nature evolve incrementally in response to its traditional influences of volcanism, atmospheric chemistry, and solar radiation impacts.

As an activist educational institution, we are driven by the convergent ecological systemic failures-in-progress, variously referred to as “the metacrisis”, climate change, overpopulation, pollution, wildfires, sea levels rising, glacial collapse, species extinctions, etc.
These all stem from the disproportionate saturation by Homo Sapiens of the ecology, alongside a defective value set by the species leadership that causes extraordinary ecological ablation by individuals seeking chrematistic surplus wealth.
